So that report I posted pissed some people off. It was indeed written by a group with an agenda (non-meat and alt-medicine), and the research doesn’t necessarily bear out the idea that processed meats ARE GOING TO KILL YOU RIGHT NOW! There is a general consensus amongst health professionals and nutritionists that processed meats are not good for your health , and are likely to increase your chance of certain kinds of cancers. It could be that it’s because red meat (with or without the chemicals) increases your liklihood of certain kinds of cancer, but I’m betting that its probably best not to ingest too much of these chemicals.
Anyways… no one wants to take away your bacon, so chill the fuck out. You’re probably okay if you eat it sparingly (although there are all kinds of ethical and environmental reasons why you shouldn’t eat most meat). Honestly, if I get a hold of some bacon that I know is ethically okay… I’ma eat that shit real quick!
Srsly though, hot dogs and bologna and the shit in lunchables are fucking gross.
